Dr. Donna Mumert will be returning to Beaverlodge Health and Wellness next year as Dr. Sebastian Haupt moves operations to Grande Prairie. 

Mumert previously operated a walk-in clinic at Beaverlodge Health and Wellness before retiring in June of 2022.

Mumert also ran a family practice in the community; at this time, she is only going to run the walk-in clinic, said Beaverlodge Health and Wellness clinic manager Becky Isley, and will not be accepting patients.

Haupt has been practicing in Beaverlodge since January. Earlier this year, Haupt and Saurabh Parmar of Hythe each received $10,000 via the South Peace Professional Attraction and Retention Committee (SPPARC) Grant, a joint initiative with SPPARC and the county to provide funding to physicians setting up shop in the area.

Since Haupt was not serving as an on-call physician for the Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital emergency department, operations there should not be impacted. Isley added Mumert will not be serving in the emergency department.

Isley told the News Haupt made the decision to leave the practice for an opportunity at the Grande Prairie PCN After-Hours Clinic.

Haupt’s last day with Beaverlodge Health and Wellness is Dec. 21.

“Then we’ll go on Christmas holidays and then after the break, Dr. Mumert will start,” Isley said.

“Dr. Haupt right now starts at 8 a.m. but Dr. Mumert will be starting at 9. That’s the only thing that will be different, and that’s why we started getting signs out to get patients used to going back to the 9 o'clock hours.”

The walk-in clinic will continue to be open from Monday to Thursday, from 9 a.m. until capacity has been reached.
